Provisionally PG *swōaną, Dutch (ver)zoenen, German (ver)sühnen “atone; reconcile.” Preterite not attested; it could alternatively be reconstructed as seri, coinciding with VIIe. Inflected variants would have included the plural form sóu. Also found as class 2 weak.
